This CAT oil filter is a Direct Replacement for the factory oil filter. Meaning it will spin right onto your factory filter housing without any adapter needed.
Why CAT?
The CAT 396-4596 oil filter retains all of the benefits of the factory filter style, and then some added benefits. For flow, the CAT filter offers a larger center tube opening for clean oil to easily flow out of the filter and back to the engine. The biggest difference comes from the Surface area of filtering media. The OEM Mopar filter measures 505.25 square inches (94"x5.375") of surface area, where the CAT measures 561 square inches (102" 5.5") of surface area. This nets a 10% increase in filtering media surface area. Offering more area for oil to flow through and therefore increasing ease of oil flow. This is done through making the filter taller, and also having more pleats.

So first off I religiously only run rotella t-4 in my 2010 2500 and I figured I would give this CAT filter a try. I usually run the mopar filter or a mobile 1 filter. But I am am 100% sold I will for now on be buying this filter form mdd performance the oil is so much cleaner usually after checking the engine oil a week or two later after an oil change the oil is usually already pretty black granted my truck has 308,000 original miles on it and still going strong. Just checked my oil today and man it isn’t even remotely dirty at all! My mind is freakin blown I change my oil and fuel filter and oil religiously every 5,000-7,000 miles depending on driving conditions and how much I have driven. Also I like the fact that the time was taken to write a thank you note on my order invoice for my purchase that was very cool not very many small businesses will do that and to me that is pretty above and beyond I discovered you guys through tik tok and I’m now sold on this.
